Project Goal

To contribute to the STI agenda, by developing a functional National network of STI excellence as a foundry for accelerated transformative STI human capital development.

Objectives

To profile the partner STI establishments (STIE) and their ability to better manage STI and STI-driven national transformation in the Industry 4.0 and Pathogen economy and industrial value chains.

To train and skill partner STI personnel in transformative STI and STI human capital in the various industrial value chains.

An inventory of STI infrastructure, hubs, human capital (skilled and unskilled), legal and regulatory frameworks was developed. The output has contributed to a knowledge portal for STI infrastructure, human capital, and governance systems.

Phase one of human capital development has trained 15 interns from five STI bureaus namely: Pathogen Economy, Industry 4+, Infrastructure Innovations, Aeronautics and Space Science and Support Service.

The Network of STI Excellence has a central coordination mechanism at the national level under the STI Secretariat. There’s a project coordination office at Makerere University College of Veterinary Medicine Animal Resources and Biosecurity.
